Cardamom - Essential Oil

Cardamom (Elettaria cardamomum) essential oil has an intriguingly, beautiful, spicy, warming aroma much like cinnamon and ginger. It is commonly used as a mouth freshener, in teas and in many sweet dishes. Cardamom is used in Domas / Pan, a very common mouth fresher usually eaten after food, by all ages in South Asian Region. Cardamom grows all over foothills of Bhutan. Cardamom essential oil may have very strong antiseptic and antimicrobial properties. It is also attributed to its ability to reduce spasms and nausea, as well as its qualities as an antiseptic, antimicrobial, diuretic, astringent and digestive aid. This stomachic nature of the oil will boost digestion by stimulating the whole digestive system, while the diuretic property of the oil will assure the toxin removal. During our studies it was found that this diuretic nature of the oil was particularly helpful with the water retention caused by diabetes, reducing swelling instantaneously. It also soothes the respiratory system, a few drops of cardamom oil in any carrier oil, onto your chest would be the perfect remedy for congestion caused due to cough and cold. It may also provide relief to upset stomach and diarrhea caused by extreme cold, due to its potent warming effect.
