Nutmeg - Essential Oil

Nutmeg (Myristica fragrans) comes from an evergreen tree, and has been used as a home remedy for centuries in Bhutan. The essential oil is steam distilled, giving us a strong pleasant spicy scent. Nutmeg can act as a mild sedative, calming the mind and improving focus instantly, on inhalation. With a renewed focus, any exhaustion is cleared. You may also experience relief from minor headaches with a dab of nutmeg essential oil. Due to its sedative property, it can help improve sleep quality by diminishing activity of stress-related enzymes. This explains why a lot of the older generations in remotes areas of Bhutan, are seen sniffing away from the nuts. Nutmeg also causes an increased antioxidant activity and an improved blood circulation, removing free radicals (toxins) and fighting any form of skin inflammation or acne. The overall appearance of the skin is improved. It also calms indigestion, diarrhea, bloating and constipation significantly, on topical application.
